Our
Story

Spark Year One.png

Spark Summer Camp began with a simple realization: parents want more than someone watching their kids over the summer—they want a place where their children are growing, included, and genuinely thriving.

Our roots go back to 2011, when we opened our first karate school and began working closely with families who cared deeply about structure, confidence, and character development. Year after year, parents told us the same thing: “We wish this kind of coaching and structure existed outside of the school year—especially during summer.”

In 2020, we decided to go big.

Instead of creating another single-focus karate camp, we built Spark Summer Camp to serve all kids—with different personalities, interests, and learning styles. We designed a program where a child who loves movement, a child who loves art, a child who needs structure, and a child who needs confidence could all thrive in the same place.

This is why parents love Spark.

Spark was intentionally built as a child development program, not a babysitting service and not chaotic free play. Every part of the day is coach-led, age-appropriate, and designed with purpose—from indoor and outdoor adventures, to sports instruction, creative arts, and cognitive development through Brain Gain and STEM.

We believe kids do best when:

  • They’re grouped with peers their own age

  • They know what’s coming next

  • They’re coached, encouraged, and included

  • They’re challenged without pressure

Today, Spark serves families in Dover and Middletown, Delaware, and our mission remains the same as it was on day one: to give parents peace of mind and give kids a summer that helps them grow—physically, socially, creatively, and mentally.

Because summer should be more than filling time. It should spark confidence that lasts well beyond it.
